I saw the pictures of it going - and it had no passengers - and heard no more. It seems that it also got to the other side!https://resource.co/article/virgin-airliner-completes-first-transatlantic-flight-powered-solely-waste-derived-saf

I spent too many hours flying across the pond and long-haul on business to ever really want to do it now for pleasure. Europe is accessible by train from just down the road and no queuing in smelly airports.

Remember 2010 when the Eyjafyallajokull volcano in Iceland erupted stopping 100,000 flights over 6 days? That was the push for a lot of companies and perhaps individuals to invest in purchasing and learning how to use Zoom and Microsoft Teams! So now many more people mix and match for their meetings and don't always fly. We also keep up with the grandchildren's progress by using Facetime and Whatsapp.

They still emit C02 but not as much, if flights increase it won't make much difference although there has to be a starting point.

We need to be able to get all the alternative energy hitched up to the grid. You can wait years to upgrade your electricity and that's why you see so many generators on rooftops in London. Methods to cool servers ie the swimming pool solution. Are you sure your figures are right?

Ah yes, we should rely on wind?Just now, 20.31 1st December 2.01% of UK demand is being met by wind. And, because its pitch dark, 0%by sun. 61% by gas. What happens when the lights go out?

Ah yes but it is interesting because it is entrepreneurs like Sir Richard Branson who will experiment especially in things that they have an interest in. Doesn't he have a rather nice warm island to travel to (well nice so long as there no hurricanes)? It is always a bit worrying when food crops are used as fuel instead of food, though - and a shame there that we make so much food waste in this country.
DReadful bit of virtue signalling TBH. If the entire UK aviation fuel capacity for sustainable fuel was switched on overnight it would represent 0.1% of the fuel used. If you want to cut pollution from flying, fly less.
