Spam emails question

For some time I have been receiving emails from a name I know (not a friend) that typically have short messages about photos I might want to see with a link to these ‘photos’.  The name is linked to multiple email addresses and the links, when I bother to open them, are to dodgy products such as weight loss pills.  I always block these emails but to no avail.  They keep on arriving in both my regular and junk inboxes from new and different email addresses.  Is there a way to stop them completely?

Thanks, Michael.  I wasn’t previously aware of the ‘Sweep’ function so I’ve used it and hopefully that will be the end of the problem.  We’ll see what happens.  Changing my email address would be a last resort and given that I only have this one spammer such a radical step doesn’t seem worth the hassle at the moment.

"For some time I have been receiving emails from a name I know "Depending on which Mail program you're using, you should "eventually" be able to work out a method of filteringout emails by the sender's name alone, or anything else.Rather than by email addresses, which is obviously useless in this instance, as the spammers ( and trolls ) well know.If you're using MS Outlook then check out *all" the options in the "Sweep" function. You can even filter out messagesusing key words although whether this applies to the sender field I'm not sure michael adams

By clicking on any links in the emails you a) notified the spammers that it was a live account and they should send more spam and b)you risked viruses being downloaded to your pc. There is no way to stop spam, and blocking an email address does not work. They switch to another one. You can filter any emails from a name if it always appears to come from that name. Gmail is a good email provider in that they filter spam pretty successfully. Yes it is a total pain to have to change an email address but is it worse to have the spam?

My emails were mostly about Ukrainian beauties, I deny all knowledge of those sort of websites. Good to have a sense of humour about these things.

I was getting a lot of dubious emails. I was advised to forward them to the below email address. Then delete of course without opening . It took a while but they’ve stopped now . report@phishing.gov.uk

Well I'm terribly sorry, but I thought I was being assistance. I was just talking from experience.Golly I was getting all sorts through.Just don't open the link. Or get a decent a VPN.

I asked a techie friend for help with what sounds like the same issue.  He thought that some sort of viral "worm" might have infected mine or my friend's email system but nothing has come of it over the last 4 years apart from plenty of spam emails.  I.e. nothing worse has happened to my laptop. I use Gmail and created a "rule" that filters all Emmaus showing one particular name to a separate folder I've created.  I check it rarely, to see if anything of interest has appeared.  That's never happened yet but nothing annoying comes into my inbox with his name on anymore

A new email address might mean too much upheaval for me - having to notify all my contacts, friends, update all my online accounts - medicine  worse than the malady in other words.  I haven’t yet reported the issue to my provider - I wonder if they could just impose a ban on any emails from the (unusual) name of the source?

"Is there a way to stop them completely?" Yep,get a new email address,even spam blockers only reduce spam. Known spam or suspicious emails should not even get into your inbox or junk box or come with a warning. Thats down to your email provider and the security or lack of security they have. Best to get a providor with end to end encryption. So no,i doubt your ever stop it. Could be that your known friends email has been hacked thus the chain begins
