Street People in Chiswick

Hi. Im the penny whistle/ flute lady.I make my living playing a musical instrument. Many think im a beggar who luckily or magically managed to play a flute. I was homeless in Oxford last year, and returned to London as Im able to stay in a flat most nights here due to the kindness of the elderly owner. I pay towards my stay.Today I busked two pitches and mafe NOTHING.I wondered why, as I usually manage to make what I need. People who are kind enough to give to me generously quite literally save my life. Im shocked that so many young people either give, OR say they will get me food but not give change. I find it sad that at 49 years old im felt by youth to only need food. No one gets 'paid' in food alone, and although we are greatful for food, street people need money, just like you do. We cant pay phone bills or rooms or for leisure, with chips or sarnies. Its a popular thing these days for charities and government to tell people not to give to homeless, beggars, or other street people. This is sad since many charities only help a small minority of street people, and infact neglect many sections of the homeless. Street people are vulnerable, especially in cold weather, and are the last remainingsection of the community who prejudice seems to be acceptable, towards. Id like to thank those who respect and value street people enough to give to us. We are probly the most publically available and recognised people in Chiswick, and we do matter, and we have human needs just as every self respecting adult does. The children seem to realise this, and it is they who often prompt mummy or daddy to give. We cannot survive on bread alone. The Catholic Church recognise this, and I thank them too.
