It's already happening. I've been with Wellesley Road for years. Can't say I've had particularly positive experiences, but I've not needed help enough to warrant moving surgeries either. This year, I've had some health issues flare up and it's proven basically impossible to get through. I work shifts and also struggle with insomnia so the 8am reception call has never been an option for me. In the past you used to be able to either refresh their online booking system enough times or eventually be able to get an appointment - albeit probably in minimum a week's time - by ringing through to reception eventually (probably at least half hour on hold). For the last month - presumably during this merger - no appointments have been available online for anything other than flu jabs. If you ring reception - I'm not even sure if it's reception anymore or some 'consultant' in a cubicle somewhere else - they can't (won't?) book you anything and refer you to one of their two AI systems. One of them is total crap (PATCHS) and I don't even know if this is still meant to be running? Despite being AI it has operating hours, but no consistency to them whatsoever and low chance getting through after noon. You cannot add or do anything outside those hours - so insomniac on shift, I've had no luck. If you do get through, you have to be able to attach a file, which is difficult enough on a phone for me, and I can't imagine elderly being able to do this at all. All you get from there is AI generated unhelpful questions and with no attachment they just make you submit the form again rather than actually giving you an appointment to discuss it.They now also have something called Klinik? Have used it once, and did get a phone appointment for this coming week pretty quickly, but again, it's AI and not a very good one at that and seems to be aimed at a generic lot of issues which it won't let you skip either. The whole thing takes too long and is way too difficult for what it needs to be.It has been a month and I've not been able to actually see or even talk to a doctor. Very much considering moving surgeries and cannot recommend any of the three because of this merger if they all operate this way.
