Totally agree. This must not be allowed to go ahead. Wherever we we look it will be towering over us: whether walking up Devonshire Road, walking along the Barnes towpath or, especially, walking in Chiswick House grounds. The mealy mouthed developers, when asked why the building had to be so tall, talked of “critical mass” but refused to acknowledge that they can’t make a satisfactory return on the development without the height. When asked how the proposed development “mirrored” the surrounding buildings, instead of acknowledging that they don’t they criticised the use of the word “mirror”. The developers’ proposal to include a convenience store set my alarm bells ringing. The Coop at Gunnersbury is regularly targeted by shoplifters. What chance will a convenience store, by an underpass and virtually on a roundabout, have? Won’t it be a magnet for crime? I’d like to know whether Hounslow have already made any promises to the developers.
