Tesco gift card scam

Email just came through purporting to tell me I'd won a £500 Tesco gift card. Always be vigilant for these sort of scams.

Also ignore any call saying your phone contract is due for renewalfrom 02 as 02 never phone customers.

I don't understand why the law is allowing scams and scammers to operate. Surely, the government can make scams, scamming and scammers illegal and put an end to all the b/s these scammers try to do to everyone who falls for their scams to extract money from people.
