I live in the Grove Park area (SCR), and since yesterday my landline has not been working. It may be a problem in my own flat, but I just thought I'd ask if anybody else in the area has been having any landline problems.

I think people will need to know who your provider is, Colin, if they are to offer any help.

Yes I have had enormous problems - I used to have voicemail with VM - phoned twice - took ages to get through - still no voicemail and they said they would phone back ! Naturally they didn’t -

We lost our landline in Wiltshire a few months ago. It came about because all the old copper wiring is being changed to ‘full fibre’. The copper wiring is being retrieved for recycling. If this program is happening in your area, it may explain your problem. The WI-FI works well though there were teething problems. If you see BT Outreach working in the area, ask the engineer. You will be given much better advice than trying to call Customer Service.

Thank you, everyone, for your responses. I have finally found out, to my great relief, that the problem is at the exchange, not with my phone, so it's all down to EE now.

That's good news that you knowvwhere the problem is and let's hope it's sorted soon. Elizabeth has a good point though and from the lack of talk about the changes to come re landlines I can only presume they aren't working on that in this area yet. BT have restarted on this project now and there is info on the Age UK website and Which? often headed Digital Voice. This will be more problematic for some landline users - particularly those with a careline and those with no mobile/mobile reception. Be warned as you must ensure you don't find you have suddenly lost all means of communication. You won't be able to dial 999 when there is an electricity cut.

I have also heard no new landlines are available anymore, so if you move! Perhaps someone here can confirm this.
