How to find a carer?
Can anyone advise on how we might go about finding a local carer for a friend of ours who is very poorly with a slow degenerative disease? She is now completely bedridden. The carers being offered by the local authority (via its package of 'care') aren't really up to the job (in terms of communication and how they perform intimate care) and we'd like to find her an alternative. We used a care agency to find someone for my own father a couple of years ago, but whilst the carers was great, he was paid the minimum wage - the agency was making a huge mark up. It would be better if we could find someone local and reliable and pay them well without the middle-man, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. Thank you for any help/advice.
