For once, Vanessa, I entirely agree with you. Last Saturday I went to a post office (not in West London, but in a location now devoid of bank branches) to bank some cheques and was met by a sign on the counter saying "Closed due to Staff Shortages". Really not helpful ! A government initiative to require banks to make adequate alternative arrangements for customers before they close branches is long overdue. If they cannot provide "a hub shared between the banks on every high street" then some form of travelling bank vehicle with regular weekly times for each high street might be a workable alternative.
