Now in constructive listening mode

Mayors latest words since starmer and labour within are not happy. "Now in constructive listening mode"  That sounds like a push back on ULEZ more likely than not to me

Nope. Confirmed this afternoon no change to the timetable and “he will not compromise on any moves that could reduce the effectiveness of the policy”. So you might get a few exemptions so Labour can claim they are allowing selected people to carry on poisoning the lungs of our children with no additional charge but that’s it. The angry pro pollution lobby will just need to accept it.

Big culture war brewing on this one - as PC Campbell splurts -“allowing selected people to carry on poisoning the lungs of our children with no additional charge” And the selected people are the working class who can’t afford new cars. They’re not happy. Expect yet another major flip flop from Starmer on this whole agenda.

It’s not up to Starmer Russ dear. He’s had his chat with Sadiq and has been told by the more principled politician that clean air is paramount. Constructive listening mode means give me good ideas or wind your neck in because ULEZ is happening in August.

No doubt it will PC, but as is becoming apparent, Starmer’s principles are not something anyone would peg their pants on in a light breeze, let alone a windy day.

I found it astounding that Hounslow Council  applied for the 400 vehicles they have that will be hit to be excempt for the ULEZ scheme.You cannot make it up.As for Mare Sad KhanT I suggest it's all about the money if not why not just outright ban,sure as eggs are eggs once everyone is compliant he will be on toroad pricing. I would say to anyone who says just replace your old banger with another old banger is not thinking it through. You have an old banger because you cannot afford to upgrade but you know your car inside out ,how roadwartyhy and reliable it is. So what it's worth to you is a lot more than you can get for it.The risk of buying some Snotter as they are known in the trade is very high ,paying for a car that has the potential to fall to bits.  I had to bite the bullet on my 7 year old car bought from new ,worth to me a lot more than the £7k  I got for it.It was perfect never went wrong 400 miles a week. You can only buy old bangers for £7k and I needed a reliable car and had to pay for the pleasure so Khan  caused me and my family a real 30 payments financial headache and I despise the clown

It could well be that ULEZ is the issue that results in Sadiq Khan losing the mayoral election.

Ha ha. Tories gave up on London Mayoral race when the groper got exposed by Daisy. Outer ULEZ will be as controversial as inner ULEZ is now by the Mayor election so even if the Tories had a serious and credible candidate they’d have to find a different way to rouse the diminishing gammon vote.

The only way to get Khan out is to do what labour and lib dems are going to do at the GE stand aside to let the other one win.Last time 16 wannabes went for London Mayor hence too much vote dilution which let him in.

Allegations made 10 years after the action was meant to have happened, really? In the real world, knife crime in London is up 16% but no comment from the little man, what a surprise. He will win and complete 12 years causing more damage to London than the Luftwaffe. A one trick, very little pony.

Starmer was all for ULEZ 2 weeks ago. Anything or anyone must be blamed except him for their poor showing in Uxbridge.

And it would be unnecessarily risky to make ULEZ a live issue at the Mayoral election. Far more canny to kill it now by making it happen. Everybody will have adapted apart from the rump of hardcore antagonists a year down the line. Sadiq is showing the strength of a principled politician and his standing will grow from this.

Sadiq Khan made ‘false and dishonest’ statements to the London Assembly on six occasions, as newly released documents expose a secret campaign by the Mayor’s office to manipulate the results of the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) consultation.Internal correspondence released today proves that the Mayor was secretly briefed on the ULEZ consultation results on 29 September, contrary to his repeated and dishonest denials to the London Assembly. His senior advisers were also regularly briefed.Nick Rogers AM has made a formal complaint against Sadiq Khan to the Greater London Authority Monitoring Officer, the statutory officer responsible for investigating any allegations of misconduct by the Mayor or London Assembly Members.Seb Dance, the deputy mayor for transport, also made false and dishonest statements to the London Assembly when he denied on three occasions receiving the ULEZ consultation results in advance. In fact, the documents reveal that he and Shirley Rodrigues, deputy mayor for the environment, received weekly updates on the results alongside the Mayor’s senior advisers.
