Missing icloud emails

Looking at my emails this morning, I have realised that I am missing most of my emails in 2023. I have no idea how this has happened and am desperate to retrieve them. Does anyone have any idea how to do this please?

Thank you all. Apple are on the case. They 'failed yesterday to locate them, but I now have a new Apple team member who appeared to acknowledge that is Apple's fault and is on the case. She hopes to give me an update tomorrow.....
