MG

It now looks like the Chinese may make MG cars again in Europe. I wonder is our government who's aim is to grow the economy we are told try to attract them here?

Shame that MG (Morris Garages) cars cannot be manufactured from start to finish, in the UK without any involvement from China. Got to be down to Brexit of course...

The Chinese bought the rights to the MG name in 2005, long before Brexit.

I assume that was tongue in cheek. MG went belly up, with debt of £1.4 Billion, in April 2005.Thirty years of being part of BL, building cars with little, if any, quality control came home to roost. Add to that the disastrous tenure of Michael Edwardes who spent his time union bashing Derek Robinson and paring back R&D (resulting in rubbish like the Allegro) and BL were destined to fail.

The Austin Allegro was launched in 1973. Michael Edwardes did not join the company until 1977.

The new MG electric car got a very good review on Recharge motor show ,  not least because it was about £8k less than any other manufacturer for the same level spec, and no discernible drop in quality.  Think it was about £27k  when most other are starting £35k.  Shame it's still £24k above my budget though.
