Rear view parking camera - stolen

In the past week I noticed my reversing camera on my German built car had stopped working - thinking it was caused a software update I ignored it and would investigate later. Turns out, its been cut out of the rear boot handle and stolen. Latch handle has also compromised.It is more common than I realised - with lots of reports, and lots of "secondhand" reversing camera on sale on Ebay.Just letting you all know out there.

Same thing happened to me yesterday.Sadly, a quick check on ebay of second hand prices for the stolen camera piece (£80+) shows it's a lucrative crime.

Someone I know had the whole rear bumper assembly from his Seven Series BMW stolen overnight.It cost around £4000 to replace only for the new one to go walkies a week or so after it had been fitted.Be aware that if you replace the camera the chances are it will be nicked as well.

Dare I say it, but spending £4,000.00 on something, and doing nothing to prevent exactly the problem happening again, just doesn't make any sense.

Part stripping is now so blatant that it is difficult to prevent and protect. Case in North London where both front wings both bumpers and the catalytic convertor were taken inside 20 minutes by a gang of 'strippers' while the car was in a well-lit car park with supposed CCTV cover.

I agree with you Brian. The benefit of hindsight eh?Actually he flogged the BMW and bought a Land Rover. He hated it so bought another 7 Series. The new model had a redesigned pinch proof rear.What happened next? They only when a nicked the whole motor!
