LBH Weed Removal

This is a cautionary tale for anyone due to have weeding carried out on their sreet by LBH and/or thinking of usinfg FixMyStreet to report problems.Our street (Oxford Road South) was due to be cleaned on Monday (12 June) - signs went up and most neighbours moved their cars. On the day there was some limited mechanical sweeping but no weed removal and the signs were taken down the following day. I reported it using FMS but also emailed our local councillors. The explanation I have been given is that the cleaning crew ran out of time on Monday after they had finished cleaning St Mary's Grove and Park Road (both of which are immaculate as is Stile Hall Gardens cleaned on the previous Friday). But so far there is no indication that the work will be rescheduled or when that might be (if at all). And yesterday (to my intense annoyance) my report on FMS was marked by Hounslow Highways as "Closed". I'm hoping this will be sorted out through councillors (and I'm grateful to Peter Thompson and Guy Lambert) but I wanted to pass this on particularly in case anyone is relying on FMS.

You should have received some communication about why the enquiry was closed. I suggest that you make a complaint on FMS saying that this has been closed without explanation. It's possible that your road is scheduled for weeding anyway but its's not possible to check because the HH website is down just now.

Please don't just shoot the messenger.  At least there actually is a messenger of sorts instead of just of what often seems like a messages disappearing down a black hole!

Thanks Iris. Just to be clear I'm talking here about the published schedule for the "Deep Cleanse" programme which runs from 5 June through to 12 July and shows ORS to be cleaned on 12 June (together with Park Road and St Mary's Grove which were cleaned). As far as I am aware that programme is ongoing. In relation to FMS I don't understand your point. When the work was not done on schedule I reported it on FMS. The next day someone (presumably at HH) simply marked it as "Closed" without any sort of investigation. The work has still not been done. I really cannot see the point of FMS if HH can unilaterally do this.

Just checked FMS again to find the original report has been removed (by whom?) Have reported it again.
