"Accidental Death Of An Anarchist" (Dario Fo play)

I went to see this during in April during its run at the Lyric Hammersmith and I have to say it was as good as anything I've ever seen in the theatre in 40 years.I had previously seen two other of Fo's plays, 'Can't Pay, Won't Pay' and 'Trumpets and Raspberries' - both truly excellent - but can see how Anarchist is his most celebrated work.I won't spoil it for anyone, but it's a totally hilarious, though thought-provoking political satire, which has been translated beautifully from its original setting concerning an actual event in 1980's Italy, to London in 2023.And now it's transferred to the Theatre Royal Haymarket from later this month:https://anarchistwestend.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1pPUrNuq_wIVWevtCh0ARgtUEAAYASAAEgJbpvD_BwEDo whatever you can to get a ticket - you won't be disappointed!

Thanks Richard, great recommendation.  Will be going.I saw Trumpets and Strawberries decades ago at the Edinburgh festival and yes, it was hysterically funny.

I saw it at the Lyric too and it was hilarious. Even if you've seen the play before, this updated version is brilliant.

My goodness, when I saw 'Trumpets and Raspberries', starring Griff Rhys Jones, it must have been back in 1985, making GRJ  just 32! (Also featured a 46 y.o. Gwen Taylor):https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402345263659Btw, the reason I went to see the Fo play was because I had seen GRJ previously in the lead role in 'Charlie's Aunt' in 1983, also in the Lyric Hammersmith. He was absolutely hilarious in both, and it's a shame he hasn't done more theatre work - too much hard work for not much money I suspect, at least when compared with cushy TV numbers. Speaking of which, googling tells me that Anita Dobson was also in that production of 'Charlie's Aunt' (I hadn't remarked), but this was a couple of years before she got a role in some new TV soap called 'Eastenders' - I wonder whatever happened to that?
