Crow attacking dogs in Chiswick Common

Has anyone else noticed a nasty big black crow that is constantly attacking dogs in the park? Every time I walk through there it flies down and attacks my dog - even when I’m keeping an eye out for it it still swoops and gets her every time. It’s aggressive so perhaps it’s been attacked by a dog….

I got attacked by one in our local park after one of my dogs ran towards a baby crow on the ground.  I managed to stop him before he reached the bird but the parents were understandably angry.  Just protecting their young.

Crows are bastards. I stopped to help one that had got its leg caught once and was promptly attacked by a load more.

Curiously enough, I watched a (youngish?) dog chasing a crow on Acton Green Common the other day. What struck me was the length of the chase, right across the park.I think the crow had something in its beak, so I suspect that having found a food source, it was reluctant to depart the park, but the dog just kept chasing and chasing until eventually the crow flew up high into the sky and abandoned the scene completely.

Had dogs most of my life and none of them had ever been interested inchasing or attacking birds,  once when I was trying to remove a weed from the roof gutter a magpie attacked me for no reason, always get someone else to do that sort of job now.

Why would you want to remove one weed from the roof gutter? Birds don't attack you for no reason.

We all need to learn and respect Mother Nature, some humans treat wildlife in the most disgusting way so it is wonderful to hear they are fighting back

Yes a largevcrow kept divebombing my dog on turnham green last year!No reason  he was just pottering about. Maybe its changed parks!!

I have watched with horror as crows pulled junvenile squirrels from the nest under the eaves of the house opposite mine, threw them into the air and then stabbed them to death on the pavement.  I did manage to rescue one juvenile (it survived the fall, was ignored by the crows and couldn't back to the nest) but unfortunately the crows got it in the end.  Oh, the joys of working from home....

Probably just a revenge attack on behalf of their own nestlings. You know, in a Bloods and Crips sorta way:"Yes, squirrels will eat birds. Squirrels, like many mammals, are opportunistic omnivores. She might well, Richard, but all those crows were just very well trained extras. I didn't realise she was still going strong at 93.

It's likely that it's a female with a youngster nearby learning to fly. Maybe avoid the common for a couple of weeks. I'm there most days and have not had a problem with my dog, nor have I seen any protective behaviour form crows.

For 2 mornings in a row around 6.30am the crows have been making a fearsome racket.  This morning I got up to watch them really beasting a very young fox hiding under a bush in my neighbour’s front garden.  They managed to flush it out and then pursued down the road into the next street.  They really meant business..

Squirrels will also take fledglings and eggs from a bird nest.
