The Lamb (formerly Barley Mow)…

Has anyone else eaten in The Lamb recently? I did, last night, with a friend. The standard and presentation of the food would give La Trompette a run for its money, seriously (thank you, Tara). It was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the pub, its staff and the quality of the food, all of which were of a very high standard.

Why was the pub's name changed from 'Barley Mow', which is has been for  about 100 years, to the 'The Lamb' which is very boring and does not identify it with Chiswick which the former name did?

A new Manager took over the running of The Lamb just before last Christmas and there have been a few much needed changes.  Well done Adam.

The Lambe Brewery in Chiswick goes back a long time and in the 1920s I believe, after Fuller's acquired it. Eventually  Convivial acquired it together with The Crown, Pissarro at Kew Green and a few other pubs and did some rebranding, The Barley Mow and Pissaros being 2 such changes. So The Lamb is a historical name in terms of Chiswicks brewing.

Mitchell's & Butler bought all of Convivials Pubs/Restaurants and retained the trading names. If I've got this wrong I'm sure someone will point it out.

You really should give it another go, Mark. We stuck to a very nice rioja, so not sure what beers they serve but the food, service & ambience was pretty faultless and I plan to visit again very soon.
