Red Letter Days - Advice Welcome

Purchased a gift experience for my wife last October which was valid for one year.Tried to redeem it today, the 'experience' I purchased was no longer being offered.The Red Letter website claims they can't offer refunds after the 30 day purchase period has elapsed and you can only swap out for another offering...Surely / hopefully a refund can be claimed given the specific nature of the purchase can't be honoured?Any steer welcome.Thanks

You could ask your credit card whether you are covered for a refund.

Im afraid the nature of your purchase and third party falls into the category of the 30 day consumer rule. Only had this been withdrawn by the third party in the 30 day period would you been entitled to a full refund which is why all these models have a 30 day money back in the T&Cs Its not right but the nature of how they work it is the seller that refunds within 30 days and not the middle person who you have purchased from. So the middle man after 30 days have the right to offer alternatives but not a refund. Its a bit like buying a gift card but that has no money back guarantee at all including if they go bust. Allways hit and miss when buying experinaces online through a middle man and you keep hold of it for some time without redeeming. Do you know who the seller was and why its no longer available. Is the seller no longer trading |?

Thanks Julian - It was for a dance studio and having tried to call them, number is disconnected and their website is no longer up.

No problem Hope you can get something else of interest for your money. Atleast you did not redeem it and then the seller stopped trading before using it

Someone at work managed to get a refund in similar circumstances. She'd purchased in order to get an 'orbing' experience. The experience was removed from the RLD site and she didn't want to find another way to redeem her voucher. RLD finally caved in after much Tweeting, complaining and calling. Good luck.

It’s the kind of case a newspaper ‘consumer’ column might be prepared to chase up and publicise. They usually seem to get a ‘once we contacted xxx they refunded the money’ result.
