The real face of Labour

My local MP, Rupa Huq, has been allowed back into the Labour party after she was censored for calling Kwasi Kwarteng ''superficially a black man''. Also in Ealing the little donut of a mayor was getting in a right old hissy fit when locals dared to object to his roll out of the ULEZ. He called them covid  deniers, vaccine deniers, racists and, finally, Tories! How dare ordinary honest working people worried about their livelihoods question his judgement. He is the supreme arbiter of all London and we should all be so glad we have him, single headedly saving us from heavens only knows what.

You will note that Rupa Huq was slapped down very quickly by the the Labour hierarchy.As has been said about the shower running the country for the last thirteen years, Johnson who wants to vote against an agreement he signed and Truss who tanked the economy within weeks of being appointed.

The car supremacists and the Tories were never going to win the argument against reprioritising road space in London. But now they are in coalition with ugly far-right conspiracy groups protesting with swastikas they have absolutely no chance whatsoever. Great news for Londoners.

This horrible pipsqueak of a mayor has defended and cozied up to known terrorists, allowed London's crime rate to soar, enraged almost every motorist and local resident I have met with his ULEZs, and avoids all discussions by calling all opponents either Islamophobic, far right, or Tories.

I'm not so sure that the stuff on display at the Ealing event that the OP references is that funny. Spot the swastika. No surprise that this is happening in Ealing really or that the usual people on this forum and leading London Conservative politicians are apologists for it.

My father has always voted conservative in the last 20 General Elections and he has no problem with Sue Grey going over to work with Keir Starmer. Labour has plenty of faults, but these attempts to discredit Sue Grey's report smack of desperate men clutching at straws.

If you want to see one of the real faces of our local Labour councillors read Councillor Lambert's blog on the Brentford site reporting on his weekly "activities".In brief, three chums came to stay in his two bed flat, cycled to view a road barrier, went to the wrong hospital for treatment for his frozen shoulder, attended a meeting then devoted the remainder to spluttering cheap shots directed at councillors from the "backwaters".What he actually achieved to make make life better for us all and earn his pay is less than clear. Or maybe one can conclude it is perfectly clear.Top tip;When you talk the talk you are wise to walk the walk as well.

Have you seen the photographs from the event Russell?  Unfortunately, having far right protestors attend (and yes,  there were swastikas),  or organised protestors who have attend events all over the country, just drowns out the voices of locals with genuine concerns about issues like the ULEZ expansion.

If you brand everyone who protests anything from the far right to covid deniers and everything else from a list you don't do yourself any favors.The problem with the mayor is he throws everything back in your face with a label even if you are a person with a genuine concern, so what's the point? The point is he does not like awkward questions. That's why he will only appear on a certain station with a certain person to answer your concerns.At the London assembly in mayors Q&A, he does not answer awkward questions either. The chair says to everyone I want questions, not public statements but then the mayor does not answer the awkward questions and then brands them or everyone something in response to a question. Even with the lib dems and greens.If you act in that way you are going to get everyone backside up.What he said in ealing is about the same in his responces in the london assembley. He has a list of them in responce

Talk about cheap shots!I have been doing a weekly blog every week (hols aside) for nearly 8 years. They are intended to be entertaining. Many people tell me they like them. Going in the middle of the night (more than once) to assess problems on the A4 visited upon us by National Highways which have upset many people locally sound like work to me. National Highways have now agreed to change various aspects which will avert a very dangerous problem for the people who had made their own route across the A4.I work hard as a councillor (including over the 4 months since I was released from hospital) and yes, when my opposition in Chiswick (not a backwater, where I lived for 25 years and brought up my daughter who works at a Chiswick school) makes lame comments without much in the way of facts or constructive proposals, I will mock them.Reading my blog is not compulsory and it might be good for your blood pressure to avoid it!

So you describing councillors from the backwater as incoherent, with pantomime complaints and outraged Tories in the most patronising tone is your idea of not being insulting.Maybe just a "joke" like your barbed comment on renaming CHR. which we all saw through in a flash.

Insults are part of the regular currency of political exchanges. Your post, however, was personally offensive and deliberately misleading. You ignored a lot of Guy Lambert's activities as a Councillor. I don't often read his accounts of his week, but the few I have read are generally amusing, and a welcome change from one of our Chiswick Councillors, who nearly always devotes most of his accounts to knocking the majority party. His criticisms may sometimes be valid, but inasmuch as they usually take up most of the blog, I'd say they're an abuse of the platform. Give me Guy Lambert's or John Todd's blog any day in preference.Top tip: try and get out of bed the right side tomorrow, Adrian.

The 'reasonable' protesters were standing alongside the Nut Brigade who were waving banners with Khan's face next to a swastika. He said they were 'holding hands' with them, which I think is fair comment. They really should have distanced themselves.

Robert, thank's for your contribution.Personally I am sick to the back teeth with the political class  bitching, back biting, insulting and pointless postering instead of addressing the real issues they are supposed to tackle. Unfortunately this has become common currency both locally and nationally.I make no apology for pulling Councillor Lambert up for yet another example of this behaviour. No wonder the country's in the state it is if these sort of people are in charge.Am I angry, you bet I am.

OP here darlings. Don't have a problem with Rupa, fairly useless when I asked for help but so was the previous Conservative MP too. My original observation was on how people are branding everything blue as bad and everything, including the donut meister, as good. Nothing more sinister than that folks

Would that a few more of his colleagues followed suit!

Says it all really Julian! Sadly I think the silent majority are of Susan Hall's position on this and other road matters but silenced by the almost bullying vitriol of the noisy minority. Unfortunately it will probably be too late once they say enough is enough to be able to do something about it.
