Dame Sheila Hancock

I don’t know how many forum contributors were at the Upper Room event at St. Michael’s and All Angels last night but wasn’t she just on great form?  Ninety next week apparently- remarkable.Passionate about the arts, education, young people, her profession, Shakespeare, the planet. Appalled by so much by what is happening in this country. A great evening.

We were sorry to have missed this as we have been in the past to these Winter Lectures.  The last ones we attended were online which was easy to attend.  You do have to watch out when you have a busy diary as the venue can vary!

I'm delighted you enjoyed it Stewart - I thought Dame Sheila was terrific and it was great that there was a full church to hear her, when there were so many other cultural events in Chiswick that evening! I'm sorry you missed it Philippa. The next Upper Room Winter Lecture is with Mallory Horrill of the William Morris Society at St Saviours on March 30th and then I'll be interviewing Jeremy Vine at St Michael & All Angels on April 20th.

So I sadly missed Dame Sheila but we did manage to see and hear Mallory Horrill of the William Morris Society (and Emery Walker Trust) tonight.  What an enthusiastic speaker who obviously loves her subject!The William Morris Society have two days left of their current exhibition in the Coach House of Kelmscott House on the Mall in Hammersmith (open Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays 2-5pm)https://williammorrissociety.org/events/The Upper Room at St Saviours is providing an increasing number of hot meals for the homeless - I understand it has already provided three times as many this year as last - so attending their lectures and becoming a friend is a great way to support their work.  They have a different lecture next month which will be at St Michael & All Angels.https://theupperroom.org.uk/
