Is there anywhere local that accepts donations of video films? I've got a few that I hung onto of my favourites but now most of them are available for free or next to nothing on streaming services so I am hoping to create some space.

You could try preloved.co.uk as one or two of them might be worth something. The top ten most wanted videos can go for over £1,000 each A few years ago I used the Momox website to get rid of all my CDs. I think they also do videos.I also left a few on the wall outside and they all went too.

Oxfam Books does not take videos, but does take CDs, vinyl and audiobooks,,,and books of course too. And sheet music.

As the OP says in her original post most things are now available in other formats. However some aren't and there are also people who are unable to deal with changes in tech easily especially if sight impaired and when new zappers with large and simple buttons are necessary and complicated enough to carry on watching. Making contact with these people isn't necessarily easy because they are probably not on this or any website and will rely on others to produce more. I don't think libraries will still have them and many care homes will have updated by now - but you may get lucky.Preloved would have been my suggestion too.
