Virgin and BBC4
I subscribe to Virgin media and use their 'Tivo' box to record programmes. Two days ago I tried to watch a programme recorded the evening before, and received a message saying 'Virgin no longer supports BBC4'. No warning, no explanation. I contacted Virgin this morning, but got no proper answer, largely because the Scottish lass spoke too fast and with a thick accent. I tried just now to use their website, but hit the hurdle of an 'incorrect password', though this one was accepted by the phone link. I am furious that I shall not be able to record all episodes of 'Wolf Hall' from the most intelligent channel on the air, and watching it directly would oblige me to stay up until midnight. You will say, 'Use Iplayer'. Or buy the dvds. yes, but why is this happening? are other internet providers also refusing support? BBC4 is the only channel that (occasionally) transmits opera, ballet, concerts, classical dramas, serious documentaries. If BBC3 could be brought back from digital exile to cater to a young audience, why should inteligent programming suffer? Too 'elitest'?
