Inflation reversed in Chiswick, but still a big let down.

Surprised that no-one has mentioned it on here yet, but the Chiswick Herald (02 Dec) had an interesting little story.Apparently on the previous Monday night (28 Nov), the group calling itself The Tyre Extinguishers "once again" [sic] let down the tyres of SUVs in Chiswick.Owners in Grove Park woke to find their tyes let down and a yellow leaflet on their car reading:"We have deflated one or more of your tyres. You'll be angry, but don't take it personally. It's not you, it's your car.We did this because driving around urban areas in your massive vehicle  has huge consequences for others."Apparently the leaflets then go into more detail about increased pollution and greater injury caused by large vehicles etc

Assuming they simply let air out of the valves, rather than knifing the tyres, I suspect SUV owners will be heading to the likes of Halfords to see if they sell lockable dust caps.

I don't get this idea about SUV's per se.  Maybe 20 years ago fine, we used to call them Chelsea tractors. Even for last 10 years most main manufacturers  use the same chassis, engine and parts for the SUV as they do for their mid saloon. Engines are  commonly 1.6L  and it's only the exterior shape and road clearance , and internal styling that are different.  Even in the last 8 years there is a tendency for small engines affairs using a turbo  so engines going down to 1.2L but still producing the torque of a 1.6.  So basically I hope these rascals have done their research properly and not just targeting an SUV because that's what its classed on autotrader.  There should be clemency for SUV's under 1.8.  That's what I'm saying .  lol
