Poor Germany dealt a proper curveball last night.Frank Lampard will have enjoyed some schadenfreude with his breakfast this morning, remembering his goal which wasn't against them in 2010.

It's a shocker when a truism such as "Football is a game played by 22 men for ninety minutes and then the Germans win" is disproved. On the bright side, seeing Luis Suarez and Uruguay go out for the want of one more goal has the feel of poetic justice - it couldn't happen to a nicer vampire.

I am very glad the malevolent cheating  tooth fairy is going home,together with his rule bending colleagues.It's a bit of a myth that Germany dominate England on the football pitch.We have a better than even record against them over the last 30 years.Brazil and Italy are our major bogey teams,we have a poor record against both.As the Azzuri are not even there, we have to hope the Brazilians are eliminated if England are to win it,unlikely as that may seem.
