Then he pretended he was the saviour, his supporters lied (shock horror!) about his level of support, and he bottled it, pretending he could have stood if he’d wanted but now was not the right time. Truth is, he wouldn’t have won and his ego can’t tolerate rejection. And those US chat circuits fed his blatant desire for loads and loads of money, while doing as little as possible to earn it. Never the come back kid.

According to Peston - Johnson could never have formed a working government even if he'd have been elected, as he is such a divisive person, that would have plunged the country into even more chaos. I think we dodged a bullet, and I think he was lying about the number of votes he'd managed to get, all that cobblers about his magnanimity of putting the party/country first total rubbish, his favourite word is 'I'. Also the re-hashed cabinet is an attempt to put party before any other consideration to try and ensure they have a fighting chance at the next General Election, and sod the rest of us.

I thought Sunak might provide a welcome contrast to the style of recent PMQs. Sadly he's copied the Johnson playbook - don't answer the question, but rather ask questions of the opposition leader, make overblown claims about your own policies and attack "the party opposite". PMQs is still a circus, and Lindsay Hoare is absolutely useless as Speaker. As to Starmer, I thought he was quietly effective, and I liked the initial humorous exchanges with Sunak. Unfortunately, when difficult questions were posed, Sunak soon lost his sense of humour and adopted Johnson's attack mode.

I watched PMQs and thought Keir was definitely getting his mojo back, he will never be a wannabee comedian like Johnson (thank God) but slow and steady will do, and it's what the country needs after the absolute sh*t-show we've had to watch for weeks now.
