Doorbell stepdown transformer
Found the very old transformer which works the doorbell. It's prob 60's or older , looks like bakerlite, it's a Friedland c75 model. It's warmish not hot, and does emit a quiet buzz I only noticed it when it was really quiet. It says 12v @ 0.67A output. Which I make out to be 8W. But is that 8w when the bell is pressed or is it 8w constant ? I have tried to search the web and they do say these things use power all the time but they don't say if it uses rated output power all the time ? I have already switched off a small 5w alarm clock in a spare room, for savings, and if this is 8w all the time I will happily disconnect it and use a battery / wifi type replacement.
