Staveley Road Access from SCR

A new no access sign has appeared in the last 2 days attempting to prevent cars entering Staveley Road from SCR, stating access only.  It’s appallingly positioned blocking off the inbound lane so cars are now turning into the road on the wrong side.It’s only a matter of time until there’s an accident, which genius thought up this idea??

It's in order to prevent the residential roads around Chiswick House being clogged by visitors to the Halloween event for the rest of this month.  The closure is only effective from 5.30pm to 9.30pm each day.  But the signs are in position all day, every day.  I don't know whether the event organisers or Hounslow Council are meant to be managing the signs.  I suggest you report it on the FixMyStreet app or via the report-it link on the front page of hounslowhighways.orgThe signs are on the A4 (junctions with Park Road, Milnthorpe Road, Eastbourne Road) and on Sutton Court Road (junctions with Chesterfield Road and Staveley Road).

As Phil said the "sign" at the Staveley Rd/SCR junction is actually a plastic barrier across the left half of the road (as at Harvard Hill).  It is possible to turn into Staveley but only by driving on the wrong side of the road!

I submitted a report on FixMyStreet and had a response from Hounslow to say they thought it was in connection with the A4 works, and that they have sent it to TfL!  This was despite my report referring to the Chiswick House Halloween events.I've now sent Hounslow a copy of their own traffic notice that is attached to lamp posts at each closure location, and have asked them who is responsible for enabling traffic to use the roads outside the evening closure periods.

Thank you for doing that, Richard. I also sent a report via Fixmystreet street yesterday (Monday) attaching a photo of the traffic order and the offending signage.  Which is indeed leading to some dangerous driving - even if you are a resident you would have to enter Staveley and Chesterfield on the wron* side of the road.  I also followed the FMS report with a voicemail to one of the numbers in the traffic department this morning, as it looks like FMS submitted my report as an anonymous report (not what I intended - I was logged in at the time and have given permission to have e my name shown).  I find that the council is less inclined to take notice of anonymous reports ( rightly or wrongly).

Ps somebody should be managing these signs and removing them when they’re not needed.  Surely it’s unlawful to have a temporary closure order for a designated time period and times of the day (in this case 5 hours a day, 1730-2130) and then to block the relevant roads 24/7?

Well done Richard!  The signage at chesterfield and Staveley roads was moved to the grass verge this morning.
