Now the barrier simply disrupts the lives of local residents and those servicing their needs e.g. refuse collection, by forcing traffic on to another residential street, Burlington Lane, on which there is a busy train station used by many including pupils of the local secondary school.The barrier also extends journey times by local residents and those servicing their needs adding to (not reducing) local air pollution and has increased congestion at already difficult junctions e.g. the Grove Park Bridge/Sutton Court Rd/ Lawford Rd staggered junction.An earlier petition supported by 180 residents to stop the temporary barrier being replaced by a permanent barrier was not acted on by Hounslow Council even though its Overview and Scrutiny Panel had supported just such an action, agreeing that the original LTN proposal was based on indequate evidence and the consultation process was incomplete and flawed.The removal of the barrier would of course have to be accompanied by the introduction of sympathetic pavement and kerb treatments that will encourage road users to adhere to the 20 mph speed limit.The cost of removing the barrier and reinstating the junction can be found from the over £7m of PCN fines incurred by drivers on the eastern end of Staveley Road.The proposal to rename Staveley Road as Queen Elizabeth II Drive would draw on Her Majesty's reputation for healing community divisions. It would also provide a fitting memorial reflecting the many reports of The Queen and The Queen Mother being driven along the entire length of Staveley Road when the cherry trees, that line the street, were annually displaying their magnificent pink blooms. Staveley Road lies just to the south of the route to Windsor along the A4 along which that the Queen's coffin travelled to its final resting place.Renaming the road would also remove confusion made by many visitors, who are unfamiliar with the area, between Staveley Road and Staveley Gardens.Please do not refer this petition back to local councillors, other than for information. This common sense and fully funded proposal is not controversial and action can only be taken at a Council level and not at local Ward or Area level. Urgent action is required before tempororary suspension of the LTN regulations are lifted.This petition runs from 07/10/2022 to 23/01/2023.
