Julian, for what it's worth I don't think you have anything to be blamed for. You were trying to inform fellow forumers and relied on information you were given from a reputable source, and thanks for doing so. Personally, I was able to pass your info to a driver bringing a bus of colleagues from a hotel to the airport, so thank you.Wishing all the best to the poor woman who's been hit and also to anyone else involved in this accident.

It's not as if you posted something from a sprious or untrustworthy source if you were given the info by a PC. If this forum supported even limited time editing further debate on 'right and wrong' could have been avaoided.Don't beat yourself up, you posted in good faith.

TYNot near the scene anymore but busses are running east and west using TGT - bath road - Goldhawk road and vice versa

It's relatively good news according to the article on the front page. The woman's injuries are not as serious as first feared - not life-changing or life-threatening.

I'm utterly fascinated nary a cycle advocate has weighed in on this.Pre CS9 they'd be all over it like white on rice. Post CS9 they are all silent. What's up with that? Has their advocacy failed horribly? Should they now be focused on requiring cyclists be required to use the safe, segregated infrastructure they demanded?Something doesn't add up.  Shocking, I know.

Perhaps the pro-cycling lobby are (a ) waiting until we know exactly what happened, and/or (b ) concerned not to be seen as making political capital out of one particular, sad incident?It's called simple decency and respect.Of course it is open to question whether the anti-cycling lobby would show similar restraint were it eg a pedestrian knocked down by a cyclist.Sadly, your eagerness to use this sorry accident to have a pop at your opponents suggests maybe not. Though you did manage to wait what is (for you) an impressive 3 days. Which is something, I suppose.

The first reports said the lorry jumped a red light.  I also understand the lady was not as badly hurt as first teported, thank goodness. Lots of jumping of guns early on. No comments on that as far as I know

Yet you (and John) are able to help us all set our watches for which we're very grateful.But thanks, as ever, for your paltry attempt at smear. I do love your other attempt at painting zealots as angels. Cycle lobby and "restraint" have never gone hand in hand.

We don’t know what happened yet. Why not show some decency and stay silent until the facts are out?And besides that, a woman was hit by a lorry. A lorry driver has got the fact that a woman was almost killed by his vehicle. Regardless of who’s at fault - which, AGAIN, we do not know - can we at least try and show some decency towards this traumatic event instead of using it to score petty points over the Internet?
