A4 road closure

Morning,Yesterday I noticed that the A4 i now down to 1 lane East bound, from the start of the flyover. Around 9am the tailback was past Heston services, but around 1pm it wasn't really a lot different to normal.Does anyone know if there are still lane restrictions on the west bound side too please?

Lane restrictons on both sides of the A4 now.For some strange reason they have closed one lane at the start of the M4 Eastbound elevated section so it's one lane all the way to the works on the bridge.Why didn't they close one lane after Junction 2 instead?

Thanks. East bound is probably an attempt to slowly bring traffic into 1 lane and keep the jam (or majority of waiting cars) on the M4 rather than the flyover bit. Suspect the resulting traffic issues would be same either way though for anyone wanting off at J2.

On Google traffic it looks as though there are restrictions West bound but the tailback doesn't look too bad.I am up before the rush hour and pass by the Gt West Road some mornings. It is noticeable that more and more vehicles are moving East and West earlier and earlier too try to avoid the tailbacks.I guess there are reasons why this work can't be carried out during the night which is commonplace on motorways.

I suspect the closures are 24/7 to limit the load on the bridge while they are strengthening it (i.e. probably have to weaken it in order to do that).

They have to dig right down into the road - looks nearly 2 ft - so no chance of reopening at night.
