Prices go up tomorrow gas & electric

If it matters to you, photograph or read your meters and send the readings to your supplier.

Good idea. I took a video recording soon as my wait time got down to 2 secs online to submit and then went back up to 4 secs. Hold up,here we go. I was going to say something then and thankfully I deleted it before hitting submit. The thought that someone does exactly what I was to recommend was not good. The problem for others is they will never know what that idea was. Answers on a postcard Mmmm...... Is anything else happening locally? No two circles of muttering doom and gloom?Where is my mate MB got to? He's not packed himself in the removal box?

Some of them let you backdate the meter reading by a few days.I think the price cap has always excluded fixed tariffs and the variable green tariffs. That was on the expectation that green tariffs would be more expensive and people were opting into them.  I think Octopus matches the price cap on their variable tariff, but the others - Ecotricity etc. don't. Most people on here would be on fixed tariffs and when those expire there's no point going onto a fixed tariff based on today's prices - you're better off migrating to the variable tariff on your current supplier that's got the government price cap.

I was surprised to get an e-mail yesterday, from OVO, asking for readings, which my husband had taken a photo of earlier in the day, with a view to using them in the next few days.  I sent them at 11.30 yesterday evening.  It was incredibly easy to do, great website.

The UK has gone weird now we are all getting a kick from taking a pic of our energy meters  and later sending them in. I went rogue and did it on 29th, what the heck they can have me for 1 day on their bigger charge if they want.  They should have just offered us this game years ago instead of the multi billion pound spend on smart meters project.  No I haven't got one and yes I keep not replying  on their suggestions it would be a 'great thing for me to have'.

Re Gas meter ~ Does anyone know of legal position about removal of non-connected gas meter (turned off and secured because of house-side leak) that's been left in situ and still paid for with a monthly standing charge? Can a householder have a gas meter removed by local contractor or do I have to get my utility co. to take it out for which there'll likely charge more than a local contractor? Thanks

I had to move one once. Was a bit of a saga. As I understand it only National Grid can touch them.

Russell, I need to have my gas and electric meters moved as I am in the process of doing up my gaff and I want to convert the cupboard under my stairs into a pantry, and that's where the gas meter is now.How did you go about getting yours moved please?

Lol, just posted a lengthy reply and it got lost. I had to apply via their website. It all went wrong a few times and ended up being very complicated but they had a fixed price and held to it, I was told no one could touch the meter supply side apart from the Grid.
