Farewell Queen Elizabeth ll

It was a great privilege to stand on the A4 by the brewery this afternoon to say our last farewell to the Queen, a proud moment and memorable one of living in Chiswick and one we will share always. However, I could not believe on such a day a couple standing next to us slowly pushed and worked their way to the front of the barrier before our eyes. They were not young but middle aged and should have known better and made me feel just like queuing for a bus nowadays, everyone is just for themselves, even in Chiswick!I would normally have challenged such disrespect but held my tongue for once, in honour of the Queen.I hope if you're local and read this, you know who you are, Shame on you!

My wife and I also said our last farewell today. We were right by the gate to Chiswick House. we were there early so were at the kerbside. Everyone around us was very friendly and chatty whilst waiting. One of the families near us kindly offered my wife the use of a seat they had brought with them.If they are reading this (they are local), many many thanks again.However, a lady with a dog allowed the dog to pee practically on my wife's bag. I asked her to move the dog away when I saw it starting to squat and got the following reply. "I live in Chiswick and this is where I walk the dog". The dog was allowed to continue. On being told that we also live in Chiswick, she just walked away. I totally agree with your comment re everyone is just for themselves.

Glad you both enjoyed the atmosphere while you were waiting for the cortege to pass - we queued on Sunday to pay our respects to the Queen lying in state and the atmosphere was lovely and all the banter (and some laughter) made the time fly by before we reached the hall.Not everyone is out just for themselves, but it is pretty annoying when someone pushes in while everyone else has been patiently waiting for a long time, and as for the lady not doing anything about her dog, how bl**dy rude!Hopefully though, you'll both remember the good bits about the day long after you've forgotten about the pusher-inners and rude dog.
