Referring to the story on Home Page. If you look on Google Earth you can see what TFL are up to, and why the residents are against it. I wish the residents the best of luck with this.

It's a shame. On the face of it it would seem that LT are going to clear a piece of land that's home to all sorts of wildlife,  to make a car park so that people can drive to work when they've probably got free travel passes and a Acton Town Tube on the doorstep

So to be clear, the same TfL wasting millions on experimental cycle lanes that, by now, should be done to perfection given all their "experience" and "knowledge" - which they ignore - the same TfL attempting to engineer modal shift away from cars, that TfL is building a new car park next to the rail tracks? A car park for tube employees. I keep waiting for the disgust and righteous indignation coming from Paul, Tom, et al. Cause they sure got their knickers in a twist when the discussion was about parking for doctors and teachers, but somehow those that work for TfL on the tube need their very own car park and there is complete and utter silence.How very strange.

From the front page:"TfL says that the site is needed because an existing car park on Bollo Lane is no longer available due to building work about to commence on its major housing development."

I suppose the problem started when, as we're told, the Gunnersbury Estate sold the land in the seventies, so rather than it being an attractive open space, or maybe allotments, it's become overgrown and inaccessible. With the pressure TfL are under to monetise any 'spare' land they have, such as the huge Bollo Lane embankment development, local residents should perhaps be thankful they're only getting a car park and not a tower block - for now.
