Interesting to have Jacob Rees Mogg in charge of energy. Highly  educated man, some  interesting faux pas in the past. What does it say about Liz Truss and her views on the climate emergency.  Watch this space.

Rees-Mogg is an expensively educated not a highly educated man. You only need do a brief survey of his public statements to realise that he is an idiot. He bought his cabinet position with an early declaration of support for Truss. He will expand  fossil fuel production but any energy Minister would be doing that as the short-term imperative is to substitute Russian sources of supply.The broader policy on climate is likely to be set by Kwasi Kwarteng, who is both expensively and highly educated, and has a good grasp of the issues and is totally committed to net-zero. There is a long list of reasons to be very concerned about this new government but, for now, I think we can relax on their approach to climate change.

Well some presumably highly educated Professors use their education to pull the wool over our eyes with flawed statistics. Clever but it would appear no humanity or honesty.  Let’s see how it goes. Some of us need hope of getting out of the pit of despair the cycle lobby have us buried in . Had a visitor this morning, on a professional matter. Spent the first twenty minutes saying what a mess Chiswick is and how difficult to navigate. Not local but our plight has spread far and wide. Time to stop this. Particularly as cycling figures are dropping.

He often visits, on business,  and he was referring to the road closures that have been in place for a long time now, and the confusion of finding some more recent changes that he didn't understand.  Also The mess that Chiswick High Road is with the cycle lane etc.  He started the conversation, not me, but I was happy to agree with his comments and said he was lucky he didn't have to live with it.  He said it took him two hours from Ruislip today which he said was exceptional and I explained the current works.  He may not live here but he is familiar with it.

He will most likely be very very very nice indeed. He may turn out to be even less hard-hitting in the future for the fact he wants to be a little more gracious in a lady being his opponent at the box Don't hold out for  any personal fireworks anytime soon

Why's your man not on the tube? It'll take him 20 mins. And the best description I've heard of Rees-Mogg is that he is an uneducated person's idea of what a highly educated person is!

Makes you wonder if that the really old ideas harking back many years, where working class people thought that the public school educated elite obviously knew more than they did and therefore they were not worthy to question them still prevails? Albeit not to the degree it did? Listening to some pensioners on the TV yesterday - when asked about Boris - like well trained parrots replied 'Well, he got Brexit done'. I think the only thing that got 'done' was us, Brexit is proving more damaging that Covid but those replies tell me if you say something often enough people believe it.
