Trees on Acton Green

Is any action being taken by Ealing Council to address the very sad state of the beautiful chestnut trees on Acton Green on the Turnham Green tube side of the park.It's really sad to see them just dying and no action being taken.

Its the leaves that have taken a hit from the hot weather  and not them dying. They look ok to me just short of leaves but not the conkers that look the same and in numbers as any other time

Horse chestnuts are always the earliest to lose their leaves - remember kicking them about on the way to school at the start of the new term

Sadly all horse chestnut trees suffer from moth minor disease which also accelerates leaf fall. It is likely that all horse chestnut trees will have to be eventually cut down as all elm trees were cut down some decades ago.

I was promised some action on an out of control Cherry blossom tree. The Council agreed it’s in need of cutting back, it’s hanging dangerously low. That was months ago . Not surprised sadly

It is the caterpillars of the horse chestnut leaf-mining moth that do the damage by burrowing through the leaves. According to the Royal Horticultural Society "Heavily affected trees can drop their leaves early, it has been found that this has almost no effect on the growth rate or health of trees, although conkers may be slightly smaller"

trees@ealing.gov.uk used is an email that used to work for reporting problems with trees.  I haven't reported anything recently.

The trees are fine, just in case you haven’t noticed we had no rain so trees went into drought conditions hence leaves dropping early, they will be back to their former galore next spring.

Hope so.Thanks for comments I will reach out to council. 2 trees opposite my house were diseased and chopped down. I fear the disease has spread to other trees.Will keep you updated.
