So, according to Carl's logic, because of drivers' lack of awareness (or so I read the passage "Cyclists are now in more danger because of the crossing of junctions where vehicles are turning into and the lack of warning lights or road marks") they need to be paying road tax (which doesn't exist), insurance and a safety MOT. I have to say, it sounds a lot like Carl, here, is buying into the government's latest attempt at distracting us from the fact that they're doing absolutely s*d all for months. Shapps - probably even worse than Failing Grayling at his job - is starting another pathetic culture war to hide the fact that he's doing nothing to solve the train strikes, or that he's holding TfL at ransom, and we're all falling for it.However, on the topic in point, I'm a cyclist and I'm insured. I paid a monthly fee to Hiscox because a) I don't want to be out of pocket if my bike is stolen, or vandalised and b) I don't want my girls to be left destitute if I'm killed by a vehicle on the road. I get my bike checked by the great guys at the London Cycle Workshop every now and then because, well, it's my tool and if it breaks down I'm stuck. But I also recognise that a lot of other riders out there are riding not because they like it, but because a bike bought for £50 on Gumtree is all they can afford to go to work now that a bus ticket is north of £1.50 and the Tube is dearer. People ought not to forget it.
