Today (Saturday 13 August) could be interesting in Chiswick

In addition to the A4 lane closures there are strikes on London Overground and engineering work on South Western trains which serve Chiswick and Kew Bridge stations.Brentford are at home to Manchester Utd with the kick off at 5.30pm and the Gunnersbury Live event is taking place at Gunnersbury Park this afternoon and evening with thousands expect to attend.The heat may discourage people from going out but if you need to I would be heading out in the morning rather than waiting until later.Whatever happens today will be a pallid reflection of what is in store during the tube and bus strikes next week.

Don't forget the railway engineering works carry on through Monday and Tuesday. Oh and there's a bus-strike to look forward too next weekend as well.

On Friday afternoon most 267 buses from Fulwell were terminating at Turnham Green Church because of the traffic approaching Chiswick Roundabout.

The traffic was  already  busy on Kew Bridge..especially northbound.The football crowds in abundance.Has someone jumped into the Thames? The services are all looking over the upstream wall.Upstream pavement closed.Downstream pavemen pretty packed.Flashing blue lights, Brentford FC red shirts.It's all goI've got to go now..off the the Match.  Hope no injuries/fatalities over there.

Yes ..it was certainly interesting in the Chiswick area today.The happening at Gtech Community Stadium today was historic. Never seen so many happy people..singing and cheering as well.Watching  Christopher Chaterway beat Vladimir Kutz at the White City in a 5000 meters race (A London v Moscow Athletics Meeting in the early 1950s) now drops into second place in my table of magic moments!

Glad that the day turned out to be interesting in a positive way. I was listening to the game on the radio then dashing out to the garden to see if I could hear the goal celebrations. The commentators were both stunned and amused.Wonder how many people living in Chiswick realise one of the most famous people on the planet was so humiliated on their doorstep.

The 2000 or so Manchester United fans..all enlosed in the north east side of the Stadium...were noisey nearly all 90 minutes with their singing linked to their rythmic clapping..even when their MU side were 0-4 down.At the end of the game only 2 or 3 MU players walked over to themhalf-heartedly clapping their appreciation. Ronaldo and other millionaire players ignored them.No wonder MU fans displayed and spoke of their disapproval of the MU owners and team effort. It was indeed the Battle of Brentford 2022.
