Fire Breaks

Informed by a Relative, the council were out early this morning cutting Fire  breaks in parks, greens, and common land as a safety measure for residential property in the Feltham area.So if you back or front onto a park or common land, make sure there’s been a fire break mowed wide enough to help save your property in the event of a grass fire.I don’t know who you would contact about theses fire breaks, suppose the main Council’s switch board If you have a BBQ powered by a gas bottle, I don’t know the safety advice about them being outside in this heat, But it sounds like it could be dangerous to leave them in the hot sun.

Another dangerous problem at the moment is the amount of leaves that the trees are dropping as if it is autumn.  These are being windswept into piles.

Thanks for the update.  We're just not used to having to deal with sort of weather,  and unfortunately people just don't think about the dangers.

And please remember, the bottoms of bottles can act as magnifying glasses and start fires. I know this from experience, having once created burn marks on a pine desk at home by thoughtlessly leaving a glass paperweight sitting on it.

It looks as if the fashion for leaving expanses of grass in public parks unmowed to go 'wild' has unforeseen consequences as a fire hazard, as well as reducing usable walking, sitting and play areas.
