Yes, remember them well, I actually have one of their L.Ps - that's when music was something you could sing along to.

Yes, we used to be able to hear and understand (so we thought) all the words to somgs then so could sing along with them.  You also learnt and knew the whole of the introduction and the order of the songs on an LP.  Guessing the intro was a fun game.

You can hear and understand now, only difference is more music genres now compared to back then and some are not easy to understand.

The Seekers were about the only '60s group my grandfather would enjoy listening to. Judith was a great singer and they recorded some memorable songs.

My father hated Elvis Presley (disgusting rock and roll rubbish), until he heard him sing 'Can't help falling in love'. Took him a while to realise it was the same singer.

My father didn't like pop music 'That bloody ya ya stuff' was what he called it, in humour.The Seekers and The Spinners were the about only groups he liked,but way too MOR for me as a teenager.

My father had moments of illumination - he liked the Beatles’ Help (good) but also Herman’s Hermits, not so cool.

My father did like a few Beatles songs,Eleanor Rigby, Nowhere Man and Norwegian Wood amongst them and one or two others by other artists,but not many..I grew up listening to Revolver,Rubber Soul and The White Album as regards Beatles albums.

If anyone hasn't heard Judith Durham sing I urge you to do so...surely the best voice of the 60's and thereafter.

A beautiful voice, obviously trained, with a distinctive timbre, but not the best voice in the 60s. That accolade surely goes to Tom Jones.
