The 4th jab

Just taken a taxi to get my 4th jab at Kew retail park - I arrived with many of us oldies also arriving to be told- sorry we have no vaccines today - great!!!

It's similar to the flu jab Michael, there is no cure and don't think there will be.  I thought the jabs were from September Helen.

I had my 4th on 6th April, but then I am considered an older version of Victor Meldrew by my surgery.

One is offered the forth jab Janice as soon as one reaches 75.

When I had my Fourth jab the lady who checks you in rang me up and advised me she only had enough vaccine for people with  low immune systems.At that time, Boots Kew was only going to open Wednesday and Friday for the 75’s and over 4th  vaccination.Unless they changed since then

I notice the 4th jab is being given to the over 65's in a lot of countries. Why not here?

In the autumn all over 50s will get a booster jab Why are a lot of other countries not doing the same ? Because we are not other countries

Why not,the spike goes up and down. March was an average of 65k ver a 7 day period we are now at a 17k 7 day everage which is about 10% of what it was in jan Il get mine when its availabe not everytime the spike goes up. If your vunerable or of an age book for a booster.

Well I like getting Nicholas' observations on what happens elsewhere!  It's important to question and not just accept the news we are offered here.I remember a friend with Spanish connections complaining during the Falklands War that she couldn't get Spanish newspapers.  Apparently they were banned here.  Was that true?Re Helen's post and Bernard's reply.  Did one of them book with a telephone number and the other not?

Yes i booked using the 119 phone number - still havn't heard anything - I will phone again in a couple of days as they asked me to wait a few days.

The 4th jab is being given to over-65s; I received mine in March.

I booked through the NHS website as I did with the 3rd vaccine.You don’t have to wait for your GP practice to contact you.As long as you meet all the requirements for what is being offered, they will give you a list of available venues relevant to your post code.In fact Kew Retail park is nearer and much easier to get to, with no hassles for parking.If you did end up in a long queue you would still be inside the shop, unlike the health centre where you queue  down the ramp and along the road.But Boots did contact me to say they didn’t have enough vaccine for the over 75, on the day I booked so saved me a trip.Rebooking was easy though the NHS website for the Friday on the following week, which was successful.

The NHS account isn't just for the Covid Vaccine.Once you create an account they ask you for your NHS number and GP practice and many other others like hospitals. with this information they can gather you recent and past history together in one place.In theory you should be able to view information on scans , blood tests, past and present appointments.There's a section where you could order replete prescriptions  and make a GP apportionment, but I think your GP practice has to subscribe to this section for you to be able to do this.But as the central NHS has all your contact details and information about you, its easy for them to contact your if you are due for a vaccination. If you GP is involved in informing people about future vaccinations, the NHS website always seem to beat them to it and send you an invitation to you book a slot from a list of places near you. Then they inform your GP you have had done.Sorry I have gone around the houses trying to explain the system. But I assume its the NHS central Computer base that holds all your information. So Boots Chemist got my Phone number from the booking I made through the NHS website.

Thank you Bernard.  I'm not due a 4th jab yet.  With the others it was the GP's surgery that got to me first.  They can contact me by text or phone.So how come Helen got to wherever she was going without having been contacted to be told there was no vaccine left?

Some countries are now looking at this."In the week ending Fri 17th June 2022 there were 309 deaths where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate *- that's44 deaths a day. And the daily figure has been hovering around the 30-40 marks for months now. Now that might not matter were it not for the fact that atsome points the daily figure fell below 10 at one point below 5.As to masks I was "lucky". I still occasionaly do a bit of DIY. Apparently the dust thats generated when you sand suff like chipboard and MDF can potentially be just as harmful to your lungs as asbaetos. As you get older you become more cautious so I'd already bought in a few 3M P2respiratore masks ** to cope with such dust. And I've been wearing such a mask since day one and am still doing soin all shops and supermarkets.I personally have yet to travel on public transport as I would probably be unable to contain myself and might well find myself charged with a breach of the peace - a criminal record at last and can just see the headline "OAP goes berserk on Tube Train " - "An OAP ? - Moi ? Totally agree, Michael. I won't take public transport for now and always wear a mask if I have to go to the chemist.  Annoys me they don't wear them at one of the vets I go to. Getting Covid would be bad enough as if I don't work I don't get paid but getting long Covid would be catastrophic and a lot of people apparently have that.

Went to get my 4th booked jab for the 2nd time- was told no jabs on Wednesdays!  Taxi and another wasted day.. When I go yet again can vaccines be safe when I have had phizer three times but now they are only giving moderna?

Remember reading somewhere that it was good to have different vaccines - gave you better protection.

I had the pfizer vaccine for 3 vaccinations and the 4th was moderna Vaccine. I felt fine after the 4th which is some month's ago now.It sounds as though Boots Pharmacy are becoming a terrible service.They have access to your NHS information and can ring and tell you they haven't got any vaccine, they rang me to say the only had enough for the people with week immune systems, I would have to book next week for the over 75's. so I had mine the next week with no problemI think Boots "the Company" needs to get a bit more organised instead of letting people turn up and say no vaccine.Maybe someone should inform the NHS there playing silly Buggers. Because the next round is in the autumn when more people will be turning up

On GMB this morning they said the flu jab has not been organised yet. Also the booster for over fifties will  be rolled out in the Autumn. Covid admissions to hospital are climbing now. Still Boris got us through covid it is said. Terrible portrayal of such a serious situation.

They're urging the people who're due the 4th jab but haven't had it come forward. Sounds as if they're trying but not getting far!

Yes, it definitely isn't all over and the claiming that it is just gives the go ahead to the most irresponsible of people to be too casual.  If you aren't well definitely don't spread it around!
