‘Card’ to make international calls?

EveningYears ago we could buy international calling cards to make cheaper international calls. 
 Is there a modern day version? 
I need to call some organisations abroad, so the usual WhatsApp-type services are not an option.

If you're on Vodafone (I'm sure other providers offer similar) their International Saver 100 is smart. 100 mins for £5 per month.

If you’ve  got a mobile phone, why no consider getting  new SIM card from giffgaff? There’s no contract, you don’t need  to switch your current provider. Order a sim from them and just pay as you go -  pop the sim into your phone whenever you want to call abroad. I had the same problem. But you can still buy the calling cards here in Chiswick. Since dumping my landline I needed a way to make cheap calls abroad. I bought one from Tesco. Once you have made the first call, the system remembers your pin so you don’t even have to have the card with you when you make the call. Much better value.

You can buy credit on Skype and then use it to call landline/mobile numbers pretty much everywhere. Works on your laptop or mobile.Then obviously there's Zoom or MS Teams...

I’m hoping that over time more businesses will offer the option for people to call them on WhatsApp. That would be so much easier. But Tesco is good.

Forgot to add, that calls I make to the States are 1p per minute, but once activated cars runs out in a month.

I recommend Viber.  The biggest advantage is that you can use it to call direct to landlines as well as mobiles - the other party doesn't need any software or the app installed.
