No left turn into TGT from eastbound CHR

I might have missed something but i did not realise you could not now turn onto TgT from CHR (apart from in two stages). What does that mean and how do you execute that manoeuvre - I.e where do you  turn to do it / past metro bank and into Annandale road? I did turn left as didn’t want to go all the way up to Goldhawk Road so presume I will get a ticket.

I'm pretty sure that is for bicycles from the cycle lane, not cars on the High Road.

Ah,not as many times as a gas leak around bedford corner. Mind you, some times smell of gas has lasted years before the digger turns up and then a month later gas again.

The "No Left Turn Except in two stages" signs are only for the eastbound cycle lane, and have been there for about 18 months. I took the photo below in December 2020.  Cyclists bound for TGT are meant to wait on the cycle images between the cycle lanes and the pedestrian crossing over Annandale Road, and then wait for the Annandale Road phase of the lights.  Cyclists get a green lights a few seconds before motor traffic.

Thank you Richard - great explanation.In my defence I hadn’t driven that way for a very long time and when you are driving and used to all the different t rules changing all the time it is easy to jump to the wrong conclusion especially as I didn’t see that it only applied to cycles.

Indeed, Elizabeth, it is an easy mistake to make. Drivers are programmed to react to signs like this through education, regulation and experience.Cyclists aren't required to learn the rules of the road so it's anyone's guess if they know what these symbols mean. Especially kids.

There are free lessons available for cyclists and school children often take cycle proficiency lessons at school.  You can also refresh on the Highway Code online or via the library or by buying a copy of the new Highway Code.  There is even information in it for pedestrians. Ie. It is there for ALL of us.

Thank you, Richard, for your predictable swipe.I wasn't blaming anyone. I was pointing out the signage is indeed confusing and that one demographic of road user is required to learn these things while other demographics are able to access road infrastructure with complete and utter ignorance. Perhaps reading comprehension isn't your forte as you think it is. Read what I wrote. You've clearly twisted it into something it isn't. Bravo.

It's things like this that make the cycle lane pretty useless.  If I need to go anywhere North of the High Road, I use the main carriageway so I can turn left.If I need to go anywhere East of Chiswick Lane, the phasing on the cycle lane lights is so bad that it's a lot quicker to dodge low hanging tree branches and pedestrians on the dreadful A4 shared use path than use this.There needs to be a cycle lane on both sides of the road with traffic, not this badly designed piece of uselessness.

I totally agree!  As to turning left to use Fishers Lane, I have  no  idea  how  to do that from  the bike lane!

Moving further to Hammersmith. Cyclists are fuming that delivery drivers are blocking their cycle lane. I’m genuinely interested to know whether the delivery drivers have an alternate?

Stating facts as they exist, Richard, is not a swipe.It is, get this, stating facts. Continue to fester. But the fact remains the signage is confusing and there exists a chance without proper education required, a portion of road users are unaware what the signage indicates.FYI, passive aggressive would be more like me saying something like I think you're ridiculous.
