Hounslow council Why!!

Today they destroyed all the wild flowers around my block.

If they mow it, the seeds spread for next year.

Wildflowers are in bloom now - you wouldn't mow until the seeds set later in the year.

You need to ask them.  Sometimes there ate complaints and lobbying by people who just don't like what you like.

Vanessa, I was told they need to be cut Dow twice a year.

It depends when they were sewn, you mow more often the first year.

First cut in the first year is Mar/Apr, info from Google, down to 7cm.

http://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/news/2022/may/uks-flying-insects-have-declined-60-in-20-yearsAlso if there are too many invasive type plants amongst the wild flower mix there is a possibility that they would cut before they seed.  Monty Don has regrettably had to mow his wild flower meadow.  Best to ask and learn direct from Hounslow Highways though.  It is good to question them!
