Car chargers Mayfield avenue

Take note, out of the blue, no warning, my Bank account has been debited £15 each time I have connected. The average cost for me to charge is about £3.50. So, for about 15£ of charge they have taken £75  which they say they will return once the actual charge is paid. Needless to say I will not be using them again.

Our street chargers in Hadley Gardens are managed by SureCharge.  £15 is shown as a pending debit by our bank each time we use the charger but only the actual cost is fully debited which in our case is circa £2.50.

As Kevin alludes, you should check your account again — If it shows as pending, it just means the supplier has checked that your account has £15 available if required. They should then only charge to for what you use and the pending charge should drop off after 5 or 6 days if they don't cancel it. It's fairly normal for all manner of service providers, online shops, restaurant bookings etc to do.  The only issue with a pending charge is generally if it is for a larger transaction, as it does ring fence part of your account balance until it has cleared.

Concur.If it's SureCharge they create a £15 pending debit when the charge is started which would seem a reasonable amount to reserve but as soon as you disconnect the cable to complete the charge it changes to the actual amount charged as per their invoice.Never had any issues with them in relation to accurate charging in Chiswick in the 18 months I've been using them.Hope this helps :)

Charging always seems to be a problem. I notice petrol and diesel cars will finish in the EU in 2035, or that is the proposal. Looks like a more realistic proposal than our approach.

I'm not sure you can link how bank cards operate for the majority of payments as a reason for electric car charging being a problem, and to stop moving to a cleaner form of car travel more quickly. Please think of the polar bears.

I think charging is important, especially when I learn there are no free charging points in London, but over 530 in LA. Also the EU will sell petrol cars until 2035. I get the feeling we are not getting a good deal.

Why should they be free? Not sure there are any free petrol stations. 
As an aside, I'm not sure that there being 0.01% free chargers/population in LA is particularly relevant.....

Free charging in LA is relevant. We're forever being told cycle infrastructure must be and remain free so as not to interrupt the ground swell of modal shift. As if it makes a difference. In what is arguably the most car-centric US metro area, free charging will coax people into more eco vehicles. In April, California proposed banning gas-fuelled vehicles by 2035 with a target 35% shift by 2026. The state has long been in the forefront of most eco initiatives across the board. Free is the carrot which inevitably becomes the stick as pricing eventually settles in. Free is the introductory offer. The loss leader. But it never lasts.
