Last time this happened to me it was a bank holiday, very few cars in my street, so I rang the local cab office and explained I would be happy to give a fiver for a car to help me out. It worked fine.

Hi Andrew! Great idea, many thanks. RAC made it out in time so confirmed a new battery needed. Mechanic said that a lot of people are putting off servicing their vehicles lately so a high demand for call outs!
