Liverpool forged tickets.

Who was responsible for the tickets, is there an investigation into these tickets. It is reported that one group of supporters lost £19000! Not read anything  about this!

As far as I was aware most forgeries would be sold for cash outside the ground but any fan would be aware that the ticket was likely to be dodgy so very few would be shifted this way.If £19,000 was spent this is likely to be a more elaborate corporate hospitality scam but, once again, the amount of forgeries would not be huge.Nearly all the tickets would be given to season ticket holders and then club members who are very unlikely to want to give them up and are made very aware that their season ticket could be forfeit if they try to sell the non-transferable ticket. Nobody knowingly buys a forged ticket for a sold out game because even if you get into the ground you will not be able to take your seat because the legitimate ticket holder will be sitting in it.Therefore I remain very sceptical of the French government's claim that there was a significant amount of forged tickets at this game. There may well have been some and the process for dealing with any dud tickets at the turnstile appears to have been deficient

After listening to a few phone calls on LBC from liverpool fans, it could be that the ticket reading machines were faulty. Fans saying that their legitimate tickets were denied a couple of times before getting the green light, just in time not to be clattered by police. Others may not have been so fortunate. The French claim there were 40,000 dud tickets. but there were'nt 40000 people left outside the ground.

I read there was someone who was family/friends of one of the players, who got their ticket direct from the player.  It definitely wasn't a fake, yet they weren't let in.

I heard on the radio today that UEFA, that bastion of honesty and integrity, have now revised their estimate of how many forged tickets were knocking about from 40k to between 2 and 3k.Ho hum..

It will be interesting to see if there is trouble when France play Denmark tomorrow. I notice England is playing Italy behind closed doors because of previous trouble.

I went to Wembley last night to see Argentina play Italy. Attendance was 78000+. Ticket entry into Wembley was silky smooth - electronic tickets accessed via a smartphone, you showed your phone to an optical reader, which then let you in through the turnstile, and your phone got updated with the time you entered.Obviously the match wasn't remotely as much in demand as the Champions League final and I have no idea what they did if someone couldn't use an electronic ticket. It took less than 15 seconds to gain entry after arriving at the turnstile and putting my phone into the optical reader.

Given french ligue 1 crowd issues in and out of stadiums in 2021/2022 and getting more frequent with meetings between goverment sports minister the french football body and broadcaster may have put the police in a position of overeaction. UEFA made no such claim - it was the French government who gave the figure 40,000. In there statement at the time UEFA said 'thousands' which may turn out to be true but I remain highly sceptical.
