Cold - side return extension windows

I have a side return extension with a slanted double-glazed roof.  It forms part of my open-plan lounge/kitchen.   It's drafty and freezing cold in winter.  The extension isn't really suitable for blinds.  Has anyone managed to sucessfully apply a fix to such a problem?  Thanks in advance.

If it is double glazed shouldn’t have a problem, not sure when you had it fitted but might be worth contacting the builders who fitted it. Or get another reliable builder to check it to work out what the problem is, good luck

Do you have a solid floor? If not the draught / cold is likely coming up through the floorboards.

Good point Chris, when we did our side return extension fitted underfloor heating the whole area is toasty warm.

Same here - when we extended our kitchen we had the old timber floor removed and the void filled with concrete, perfect for underfloor heating and ceramic tiles. This plus the level of insulation required by building regs means that what was once the coldest room in the house is now the warmest!

We did exactly the same, likewise our kitchen was freezing even with radiators 😂😂😂😂 it took us a while to get used to underfloor heating, it was so warm. We have water pipe underfloor heating so it takes ages for the pipes to cool down 😂😂😂😂 we got there. Our heating bill dramatically reduced going forward might not be the same 😂😂 it was well worth the investment

Going forward just think what the heating bill would have been if you hadn't gone for the underfloor heating though!

Convection heater was the only one that warm my conservatory, it need the warm air to reach the top then the heat builds up.

Draughts and cold feet make me feel cold.  It's worth checking where the cold comes from.  There must be blinds that work on angled glass.  Although I haven't found any I like yet.  Do they have to be electric?

Given the age it might just be that it needs a refurb, check seals around windows, lead flashings etc. nothing lasts forever, good luck. If you get a builder they will be able to tell you what the issue is and discuss options to fix it.

If it’s as old and draughty as Stonehenge, no wonder it’s a smidge cold. Bit of a no brainer to either fill the gaps or get new glazing put in.
