Grove Park driving restrictions - do I expect a fine?

Hello all,I was driving back to Chiswick from Richmond on Saturday afternoon at about 5pm. For old time's sake, I turned left from the A316 onto Staveley Road before making my way up Sutton Court Road.I had heard about the restrictions when turning onto Hartington Road, but didn't realise this extends to Staveley Road, too.I didn't see any cameras, nor signs for that matter. As it turns out there *is* a sign, but it's placed so poorly on Staveley Road that you don't really see it as you're going round the corner.Will I be receiving a fine? Many thanks!

CarolineIf you were travelling towards London on the A316 and turned left into Staveley Road yes you will get a fine.The camera is on the Lamppost in the middle of the road just after the Chiswick  school gate on the right.This is to give you access to the cemetery and the school sports hall.If you passed the lamp post, like many you've been done by LBH

I’m not entirely sure if this will help, but the big sign on the A316 before Staveley is currently obscured by foliage. It may be possible that this will be a defence. I think it most unusual to have a restriction start part way down the road, once you’re in Staveley  If you can be bothered think about contesting it.  If you let me have an email address I can send you a picture of the obscured sign. I can’t post pictures on here. I don’t think the message option works either. You’d have to post your email address here

For what it’s worth for future reference, both Hartington and Staveley have the same hours of operation, Mon-Sat 8am-7pm. Yellow Warning signs and information boards on both the A-316, and Burlington Lane for the Staveley scheme, are there but difficult to read in that they contain a lot of information to absorb whilst driving. As Bernard mentions you can visit the cemetery and Chiswick School Sports Hall Car Park at any time from the A-316 end only, but not beyond the actual sign without relevant permits. Maybe you’ll get lucky on this occasion but the courtesy period has expired as the scheme went live earlier in the year 🤞🏻

That is such a pain. I noticed a big green sign about restrictions into Hartington Road, but not Staveley Road. I had no idea that you could drive down these roads on a Sunday. I've been avoiding them.  So Hartington and Staveley are open both ways on Sunday?  .  What are the Burlington Lane restrictions please.

Burlington lane was close this morning from the A316 side,  barriers did not look permanent.

The only restriction on Burlington Lane is that you cannot access it from the A316 at anytime. No entry signs are there. Exiting is fine.

Just drove past and the branch has now been trimmed but only in last day or so. Maggie, you can also drive through both roads before 8am and after 7pm everyday...just in case you fancy an evening pint or dinner in the venues in Strand on the Green (SOTG scheme has the same hours as well but need to mind CPZ hours depending where you're heading)...

The LTN’s are so complicated that most locals avoid the area and local businesses which is a great shame.

Caroline,Please do take Richard’s advice … if he thinks you have good grounds to appeal then it’s worth doing so. The fact the branches were trimmed recently also suggests that perhaps the council were also of the opinion the signage was partially obscured. That’s the kind of thing you can mention at appeal if the council reject your representations, though I suspect they will quash the PCN.

I've attended several "Personal Hearings" at the Chancery Exchange in Holborn..and I'd say that if you have photographic evidence of foliage obscuring the view of signage.. or if you judge that the signage is poorly positioned.. you can be sure of a considerate hearing in a relaxed single room..with the allocated adjudicator.I was accompanying a "flatmate" who had an incredible number of 'fines' relating to an access road to the M4..within the Borough. Appropriate photos were carefully examined by the Adjudicator and Hounslow Council lost on each instance!Sometimes the Adjudicators have prior knowledge of other cases similar to your own..where judgements have previously been made.I doubt whether Hounslow Council ever refunded fines imposed on 'non-guilty' motorists who didn't lodge an Appeal.I found my two visits to the Personal Hearing Centre in Holborn very fair and understanding. Fear not to making a trip there if you feel you have been unfairly adjudged by the Cameras.Richard is our expert.
