nu-line / ironmongery / knobs / handles

Nu-Line in Notting Hill had a vast selection of high quality door handles, knobs, ironmongery etc. It seems it's been bought out (by Lords). Their online selection is tiny. Has anyone been since it changed hands and/or can recommend somewhere with an equally large selection of good quality handles/knobs for kitchen cabinets etc?cheers.

I was there on the last day of trading. I even kept the receipt as a souvenir autographed by the guy behind the counter but have since lost it.The owner of the buildings (an old Portobello family I believe) sold off the buildings which they had owned for over 50 years.They said it was hard to keep trading as the new residents in the area didn't shop for hardware, parking was a problem for visitors and the real estate was worth a fortune.Lots of changes in Portobello Road.

Agree Nu-Line were great. Google search brought up a few possible sources including Fulham Brass which looked pretty good.

Chiswick Hardware on the High Rd seem to have a good selection of knobs and handles etc.

A store a few shops along from the big paint shop in askew road. Used to be Knobs and knockers, I think. Had all sorts of window and door hardware. Now askew hardware?

Went to SDS and Fulham brass. Both have a very good selection - pretty comparable to what nu-line had.   Chiswick Hardware is a nice shop, but doesn't have anything like the range of either of those. I didn't go to the Askew recommendation.

I have just bought a Center door knob, letter box and numbers from Chiswick hardware and they were really good in fact some of the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. They matched my old hardware but when I wasn't happy with how it looked they took it back and tracked down alternatives and even let me take a few options home to see how they looked, resulting in them ordering me an alternative in a different colour. They even sent me a text when it arrived for collection.I thought they had a decent selection, but it seemed that they can order more items in if your seriously wanting something.Given that these days so few shops care, I feel inclined to support those that go the extra mile.

Agree about Chiswick Hardware’s customer service, they went the extra mile for us in tracking down items not in stock.
