dog on dog attack at Ravenscourt Park

This morning I witnessed a pitbull terrior viciously attack another dog in the exercise area at Ravenscourt Park. The scene was horrific particularly, as the dog walker/owner could not force the dog to release its grip despite physically striking it repeatedly. The prospect of survival for the victim looked quite bleak until a fit young man jumped the fence and intervened. Somehow he was able to seperate the dogs. The police have tracked down the dog and owner but, as this is becoming more common, I'm writing this post to inform dog owners of the increasing risk of danger to dogs (especially unneutered) in Ravenscourt Park.

How do you know that it was a "pit bull". That definition is entirely a matter of opinion even though they are designated in the DDA.Never strike a dog under any circumstances; it is always counter-productive. An aroused dog is likely to re-direct aggression onto the striker. Similarly, never put your hands into a dog fight, shout or throw things.Separate the dog by grasping the hind legs and lifting ("wheelbarrow"), then walk backwards. Usually, once distance is created, the dogs will calm down and you can then remove them from the scene.

The reason I ask is because my dog was attacked in that park that could have been done by the same offended.
